Job Overview:

The experienced Post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) nurse is responsible for continuous monitoring of post-operative patients in the main hospital. They oversee the direct care of neuro, trauma, ortho, or general surgery patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for ensuring patient safety, pain management, and education in the post-surgical phase.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality patient care in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU)
  • Monitor and manage patient pain and discomfort
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans
  • Conduct thorough assessments and evaluations of patient conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized patient education plans
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety
Requirements:
  • Current and active New Jersey RN licensure
  • Minimum of 1–2 years' experience with Post-Anesthesia Care
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association Certification upon hire
  • Strong critical thinking/assessment skills
  • Completion of all Orientation requirements of Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center
  • Successful completion of all Orientation Programs
Certifications and Licenses:
  • The American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification upon hire
  • Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License
  • ACLS/PALS upon hire or within 6 months of the start date
  • Must be I.V. certified from an approved facility or completion of requirements for I.V. certification within 90 days of hire to unit
Scheduling Requirements:
  • Evening Shift, 6PM-7AM
  • Full Time (37.5 hours per week)
  • Required to work every other weekend and holiday rotations
  • On Call Required
