Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive assessments and re-assessments of patients' conditions and care needs, including psychosocial, physical, educational, and cultural aspects.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to define, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care for each surgical patient.
- Follow medication safety policies and procedures, and demonstrate knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition.
- Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and promotes positive patient outcomes.
- Document the nursing process and responses to care in a timely manner, utilizing appropriate tools.
- Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and ability to function under stressful situations, utilizing critical thinking skills and sound judgment in priority setting and delegation.
- Demonstrate autonomous practice, consistent with evidence-based standards, and pursue personal and professional growth and development.
- Provide accurate and pertinent reports of patients' conditions for safe transfer of care, and prepare rooms in a timely manner with all anticipated instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment for each surgical procedure.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current Registered Nurse license in the State of Connecticut.
- Certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) upon hire.
- Previous surgical or labor and delivery experience, specifically assisting with C-sections, required.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, and possess basic computer skills.
