Position Summary:

As a Patient Care Assistant, you will be an integral member of our team, delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. In this position, you will support nursing staff in delivering exceptional, effective, and safe patient care. Responsibilities include assisting with personal care, bathing, and hygiene needs. You will also engage in the admission, discharge, and transfer processes while contributing to the accurate documentation of patient information. When applicable, you will fulfill the essential role of constant observer or telesitter, monitoring patients at their bedside or remotely via audio/visual technology to ensure safety while upholding patient privacy and dignity. Comprehensive on-the-job training and ongoing support will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide top-tier care and foster cohesive teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:

  • Accurately complete patient care tasks and documentation in a timely manner, adhering to policies and regulations.
  • Exhibit a commitment to personal and professional growth as an employee and team member.
  • Actively support departmental initiatives by participating in meetings and training sessions.
  • As part of a multidisciplinary team, contribute valuable insights to the patient's care planning process.
  • Assess and address direct care needs for residents, following individualized care plans to enhance comfort, independence, and safety.
  • Report any safety concerns or abnormal health parameters to the nursing staff.
  • Encourage patient involvement in their daily living activities and care plans as appropriate.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Preferred:

Education - High School Diploma or GED Equivalent in General Studies

Certification - Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) - South Dakota Board of Nursing

Experience - 1+ years of relevant experience

Physical Requirements: Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly, and/or more than 50 pounds frequently, and/or more than 100 pounds occasionally, and/or more than 100 pounds seldomly to move objects. Potential exposure to radiation and frequent contact with contaminated needles and infectious materials. Must be able to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or irregular hours.
