Job Overview
Responsible for executing both standard and advanced electroencephalographic recordings as instructed. Ensures seamless care by collaborating with physicians, nursing staff, child life specialists, and departmental personnel. Guarantees the proficient and effective provision of quality diagnostic recording and reporting to both the physician and the patient's medical documentation.Key Responsibilities
- Collects pertinent information and adeptly conducts daily standard and complex EEG recordings as prescribed by the physician. Chooses predetermined electrode configurations along with specialized combinations tailored to the case under examination. Provides assistance to medical personnel during specialized procedures as necessary.
- Prepares necessary documentation in accordance with professional and departmental standards, including evaluation outcomes, personalized treatment plans, progress updates, monthly summaries, and other relevant reports. Distributes reports to the referring physicians via fax and mail.
- Coordinates and confirms patient appointments. Prepares patients, clarifies the procedure, and ensures patient cooperation throughout the examination.
- Adheres to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance protocols, safety standards, and infection control measures.
- Calibrates and adjusts EEG equipment following standard operating procedures and computerized EEG systems.
- Engages in the assessment of new procedures by gathering and analyzing data.
- Enhances professional development through participation in educational initiatives, in-service training, workshops, and review of current literature.
- Attends mandatory meetings as required.
- Performs additional related duties as assigned or requested.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not involve management responsibilities and will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's Degree: completion of an accredited EEG program
- 1 year of experience as an EEG/evoked potential technician, particularly with pediatric patients
Required Certifications
- Registered in at least one modality within the Neurodiagnostic field through ABRET. (Lawson Code REND)
- CPR certification
Alternative Qualifications
Post-secondary education of 1 to 18 months in medical terminology, anatomy, and electroneurodiagnostic studies. Three years of experience conducting EEGs and other Neurodiagnostic evaluations.
Team members employed in this role prior to the specified cutoff are exempt from prior educational and experience requirements. Additionally, team members must be eligible for certification and will have one year to obtain the necessary certification.
