Position Title: Plant Maintenance Laborer

Position Overview:

EMCOR Government Services is seeking a Full-Time Plant Maintenance Laborer. The primary responsibility of this role involves meter reading and supporting various construction and maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct meter readings accurately.
  • Assist team members with designated construction and maintenance projects.
  • Be available for overtime or alternate hours as required for optimal departmental operations.

Safety Requirements:

This position mandates the use of fall protection equipment, safety harnesses, and 100% tie-off at all times. Candidates who have a fear of heights should refrain from applying.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in construction.
  • Experience in maintenance and repair within power plants is preferred.

Special Requirements:

  • Must successfully complete training in Confined Space (C & M Division).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with equipment, materials, and practices related to maintenance and repair in power plants.
  • Understanding of applicable safety regulations and procedures.
  • Proficiency in using construction tools and equipment.
  • Aptitude for safely operating power hand tools.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Capability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Competence in performing manual, semi-skilled, and skilled tasks.

Physical and Job Site Requirements:

  • Ability to complete hiring documentation electronically.
  • May need to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must possess sufficient strength and stamina to perform essential functions.
  • Ability to navigate confined spaces and uneven terrain.
  • Full range of motion consistent with age.
  • Capability to climb and maintain balance on ladders.
  • Must be able to hear and respond to voice commands and alarms.
  • Visual acuity, depth perception, and color discrimination necessary for working at heights and on uneven surfaces.
  • Safety/steel-toe footwear is mandatory.
