Job Summary

The YMCA of Central Maryland is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Swim Instructor to join our team. As a Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching swim lessons to participants of all ages and skill levels, while ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach swim lessons to participants in compliance with YMCA of the USA guidelines and levels
  • Ensure the safety of all swimmers during lessons and enforce pool rules
  • Conduct classes according to the YMCA of the USA Aquatic Program, adapting where necessary for local conditions
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as lesson planning and participant registration
  • Help promote participation in the Y Swimming Lessons program
  • Collaborate with the Swim Director and other team members to achieve program goals
Requirements
  • Experience teaching swim lessons to diverse populations
  • Strong knowledge of water safety and swimming techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays
