Job Title: Switcher/Receiver

Job Summary:
The Switcher/Receiver is a critical role in our warehouse operations, responsible for managing trailer movements and operating yard trucks and other heavy equipment. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate yard trucks and other heavy equipment to move trailers within the yard area without damaging equipment.
  • Position trailers in designated areas for loading and unloading.
  • Perform inspections of trailers to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Communicate with warehouse personnel to coordinate trailer movements.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of trailers as needed.
  • Load and unload merchandise and materials from incoming vehicles and stack them in assigned places.
  • Locate and move stock of products to pallets or crates for storage or shipment.
  • Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies.
  • Transport raw materials to production workstations.
  • Assess, evaluate, and interpret machinery to determine the need for repairs while performing regular maintenance checks.
  • Keep updated records of inventory and activity logs.
  • Comply with company policies and legal guidelines.
  • Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Former forklift certification and use of pallet jack required.
  • Prior experience using merchandise handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, two-wheel dollies, and box cutters.
  • Understanding of safety policies and practices.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Detail-oriented and possessing basic time-management skills

Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged standing and/or sitting for the duration of the shift.
  • Working forklift for a majority of the shift.
  • Varying indoor and outdoor conditions.
  • Fast-paced environment with a moderate noise level.
  • Potential use of merchandise equipment such as box cutters, bin containers, two-wheel dollies, and pallet jacks.
  • Use of ladders.
  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather elements and conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. of material weight, unassisted.
  • Repetitive stooping, lifting, and twisting.
