Job Summary

As a Bakery Team Leader at Whole Foods Market, you will be responsible for providing overall leadership to the Bakery team. This includes ensuring the team is working efficiently and effectively to meet sales and profitability targets. You will be accountable for all aspects of daily operations, including buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects as assigned. Additionally, you will be responsible for hiring, developing, and managing Team Members, as well as ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Bakery team to achieve sales and profitability targets.
  • Ensure the team is working efficiently and effectively to meet operational goals.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve sales and profitability.
  • Manage labor costs and ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels and ensure proper product assortment and merchandising.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with department leaders and vendors.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and competitor activity.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Develop and implement training programs to improve Team Member skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to Team Members.


Requirements

  • 24+ months retail experience, including 12+ months of team leadership experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of products, buying, pricing, merchandising, and inventory management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.


Working Conditions

  • Exposure to temperatures: 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Ability to work in wet and dry conditions.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
