FamilyCore is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Respite Specialist to join our team. As a Respite Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing support and care to families in need, helping to strengthen their bonds and promote healthy relationships.
About the Role:The Respite Specialist will work closely with families to provide respite care for children and youth, offering a safe and nurturing environment for them to thrive. This may involve providing supervision, guidance, and support to help children and youth develop essential life skills, manage challenging behaviors, and build positive relationships with their caregivers.
Responsibilities:- Provide high-quality respite care to children and youth, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with families, caregivers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Collaborate with other FamilyCore staff to provide comprehensive support services, including counseling, education, and advocacy.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as child development, trauma-informed care, and cultural competence.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of programs and services that promote family well-being and resilience.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-3 years of experience working with children and families, preferably in a respite or support services setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Valid Illinois driver's license and reliable vehicle for transporting clients.
