Job SummaryAs a Patent Attorney at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, you will provide legal advice and representation to ensure that the Agency accomplishes its mission in compliance with applicable laws. You will ascertain facts, analyze issues, apply legal authorities, render opinions, and advocate Agency positions. You will work cooperatively with others within the office, the Agency, the Intelligence Community, the DoD, and the U.S. Government. You will perform legal research and writing, counsel clients, and represent the Agency before legal forums. You will oversee and direct Agency programs.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and representation to ensure that the Agency accomplishes its mission in compliance with applicable laws.
- Ascertain facts, analyze issues, apply legal authorities, render opinions, and advocate Agency positions.
- Work cooperatively with others within the office, the Agency, the Intelligence Community, the DoD, and the U.S. Government.
- Perform legal research and writing, counsel clients, and represent the Agency before legal forums.
- Oversee and direct Agency programs.
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.
- Member in good standing of a bar of a U.S. state or territory, the District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
Desirable Qualifications
- Prior experience writing and prosecuting software patents, particularly those related to computer vision, artificial intelligence, or machine learning.
- Prior experience providing legal advice and counsel on all aspects of intellectual property law.
- Prior experience advising private sector executives, federal senior executives, and/or military commanders regarding law and policy related to intellectual property, including statutory and other authorities.
