Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly qualified Nursing Professor to join our team at Polk State College. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing college-level instruction and instruction-related activities designed to encourage, support, and enable students' success.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching and Instruction
- Teach courses objectives in accordance with published course descriptions, schedules, procedures, and course outlines furnished students.
- Manage students in a clinical setting (hospital or lab) by assisting with scheduling, skill development/testing, setting up lab equipment, facilitating directives with other faculty/staff or hospital personnel, etc.
- Curriculum Development
- Develop departmental goals and plans of action to achieve them.
- Provide input and work with other faculty and staff to review, produce and/or select course-related materials.
- Student Evaluation and Support
- Conduct on-going evaluation of student progress and maintain records of student course/class performance.
- Prepare and submit grade reports and other reports on student performance as may be scheduled or required.
- Professional Development
- Participate in the shared decision-making processes.
- Serve on at least one of the College's standing committees, or on an officially established work group or ad hoc committee each year in the spirit of professional responsibility.
- Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of annual and other strategic plans and documents.
- Education
- A master's degree in nursing from a regionally accredited (or equivalent) institution of higher education with an emphasis in maternal-child nursing.
- A doctorate in nursing is preferred.
- Experience
- At least two years of clinical practice as a Registered Nurse, preferably in maternal-child nursing.
- Active unrestricted Florida license as R.N.
- Teaching experience is preferred.
- Clinical setting working conditions may have non-traditional hours.
- Attendance at seminars and conferences is beneficial and may be required.
