Job Summary

Centro de la Familia is seeking a dedicated Family Services Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing cases for children needing specialized services, coordinating behavioral and mental health services, and working closely with families to support their developmental and educational needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • ERSEA Compliance: Implement approved Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment and Attendance (ERSEA) criteria, ensuring enrollment goals are met, including enrolling 10% of children with disabilities. Ensure consistent recruitment efforts.
  • Behavior Management: Guide teachers in managing challenging behaviors using data-driven techniques like ABC analysis and collect data for functional behavior assessments and behavior support plans.
  • Special Education Coordination: Collaborate with school districts and early intervention agencies on IEP/IFSP plans, attend eligibility meetings, and ensure classrooms are aligned with these objectives.
  • Family Involvement: Build strong relationships with parents, conduct home visits, and provide resources to support families in the special education process.
  • Mental Health Services: Oversee mental health assessments and coordinate professional visits for children in need, ensuring smooth transitions between educational programs.
  • Training and Education: Provide training to staff and parents on mental wellness, child development, and special education topics.
  • Community Collaboration: Develop relationships with community partners to support children with disabilities and mental health needs.
  • Parent Center Committees: Ensure parent center committees (PCC) are organized, trained, and functioning. Develop effective fatherhood initiative programs and create support from parents for policies, procedures, and programs.
Requirements
  • A background in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child Development, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with children with special needs or mental health challenges is a plus.
  • Must be physically capable of performing activities such as lifting up to 50 lbs. and working in diverse settings, including homes in agricultural areas.
