About the Center:

The Rapid Prototyping Research Center (RPRC) is dedicated to delivering innovative solutions for its Department of Defense (DoD) partners, emphasizing rapid prototyping that aligns with current defense strategies. The RPRC focuses on integrating cutting-edge technology into existing systems, thereby minimizing acquisition costs and expediting the deployment of effective solutions.

About the Position:

The Electromagnetic Systems Engineer will engage in all phases of program development, from Internet of Things (IoT) devices to complex systems integration. Responsibilities include supporting the definition, design, development, integration, documentation, and testing of new technologies and products. The engineer will also assist the Program Manager in maintaining schedules, contributing to proposals, managing budgets, and preparing reports and briefings.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the definition, design, development, integration, documentation, and testing of new technologies and products, including technical research, modeling, and proof of concept demonstrations;
  • Develop requirements documents and performance specifications, and select and qualify components;
  • Conduct system architecture analysis, integration, and testing;
  • Participate in solution reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure quality standards are met;
  • Deliver high-quality network solutions that align with client needs, providing regular updates to stakeholders;
  • Engage in design reviews and collaborate with quality assurance teams to enhance testing processes;
  • Support the Program Manager in maintaining project schedules and contributing to program documentation;
  • Continuously assess and enhance RPRC's processes and tools, leading the adoption of new technologies;
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to program teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • A minimum of 5 years of design and development experience;
  • Proficiency in technologies such as SigInt and circuitry, including mGNSS, LEO/MEO satellites, and wireless data communications;
  • Experience with antennas across a frequency range of 100kHz to 18GHz, as well as software-defined radios (SDRs) and FPGA development;
  • Strong signal processing skills, including knowledge of compression, FFT, and filter design;
  • Basic programming skills to support hardware development;
  • Familiarity with RF circuitry and compliance with regulatory standards;
  • Proficient in using laboratory test equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in research, rapid prototyping, and product development within a dynamic engineering team;
  • Knowledge of PNT technologies and solutions, as well as experience with various communication interfaces;
  • Familiarity with CAD tools and programming languages such as Python and C/C++.
