We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Springfield Public Schools, MO. As a Licensed Practical Nurse, Classroom, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational process by providing individualized health care to students with special needs.
Key Responsibilities- Administer first aid, medication, and specialized medical treatments to students with special needs.
- Assess situations involving students' health-related issues and identify problems that require referral for proper treatment.
- Assist special education and/or medically fragile students with safe loading and unloading from buses during normal transport and emergency situations.
- Maintain student records and provide information required by legal requirements and professional standards.
- Monitor students with special needs until released to a teacher, instructional assistant, or parent, ensuring the safe transportation of all passengers.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars to gather, convey, and share information regarding students' health needs, service delivery, and educational programs.
- Prepare reports documenting activities, providing written references, and conveying information in accordance with established guidelines.
- Report observations and incidents to appropriate personnel for their action.
- Respond to emergency medical situations, ensuring appropriate immediate medical attention and related follow-up action.
- Secure students and/or their equipment to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
- Community College and/or vocational school degree with study in a job-related area or Associate's degree from an accredited community college, college, or university.
- Minimum of two (2) years of job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
- CPR Certificate
- First Aid Certificate
- State of Missouri Nursing License
- Ability to successfully complete Q-Straint Certification (provided by District)
- Ability to successfully complete CPI training (provided by the District)
- Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance.
- Knowledge of algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
- Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include health standards and hazards; codes/laws/rules/regulations/policies; knowledge of community resources; and treatment modalities.
- Skill to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
- Skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job, including planning and managing projects; and using pertinent software applications; adhering to safety practices and procedures; administer first aid and/or prescribed medications.

- Work environment is primarily indoors, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
- The work is medium work that requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Must possess the physical ability to work primarily with fingers, perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
- Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
