Fabrication Department Head

The Fabrication Department Head will lead a team of skilled and semi-skilled workers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient production of custom and standard ground support equipment.

• Leadership and Supervision
  • Supervise direct reports and provide coaching, feedback, and mentoring to enhance team performance.
  • Maintain positive employee relations through fair and consistent application of company policies and procedures.
  • Apply the company's corrective action process to monitor and improve performance, attendance, and conduct/behavior issues.
• Operational Excellence
  • Develop and maintain performance metrics to drive improvements in efficiency, productivity, and product quality.
  • Track and drive daily performance within the work area to meet business unit objectives.
  • Participate in continuous improvement events and implement best practices.
• Quality and Safety
  • Adhere to ISO standards and conduct periodic quality audits.
  • Proactively ensure safety compliance and audits to achieve a safe work place.
• Communication and Collaboration
  • Coordinate with sourcing, planning, and engineering departments to resolve material shortages and create workable schedules.
  • Work with process engineers and maintenance to ensure proper work processes and equipment calibration.
  • Monitor product standards and resolve production line issues.
• Human Resources
  • Manage communication lines with other managers, suppliers, and HR departments.
  • Participate in interviewing, selecting, orientating, and training new staff members.
  • Conduct regular meetings with team members and educate them on company and department procedures.

• Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations, or Business.
• Experience
  • At least 2 years' supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Industrial product manufacturing experience, preferably in low volume or one-off weld and fabrication.
• Skills
  • Ability to work effectively with quality, sourcing, mechanical, and design engineers.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and drive improvements.

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks effectively.
