We are seeking a skilled Detention Professional to join our team at Polk County Human Resources. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the protection, welfare, safety, custody, and control of inmates incarcerated in our jail.

Key Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, ensure the protection, welfare, safety, custody, and control of inmates.
- Maintain control and internal security of the jail through active interaction with inmates and visual monitoring.
- Provide for inmates' basic needs, physical safety, and well-being.
- Effectively apply positive or negative reinforcement for inmates who violate jail rules and regulations.
- Respond to emergency situations arising from fire, egress alarms, duress alarms, altercations, or medical emergencies.
- Select, complete, and maintain records for various reports.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must be of good moral character.
- Must not have been convicted of a serious crime.
- A valid State of Iowa driver's license is required.
Salary and Benefits
The estimated annual salary for this position is $64,897 - $83,818, depending on experience. A competitive benefits package is also offered, including advanced annual entry salary of up to 12% for prior experience.
