Position Overview

The Creative Arts Educator is responsible for delivering a high-quality, tailored educational experience in general children's art.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute lesson plans and classroom activities that align with California State Standards and Aspire's instructional framework.

  • Collaborate with fellow educators to enhance instructional practices across the school; share effective strategies.
  • Maintain open communication with students and their families regarding classroom activities and student progress.

  • Manage classroom behavior to ensure full engagement of every student.
  • Actively participate in professional development opportunities and work closely with lead educators, school leadership, and instructional coaches.
  • Keep accurate student records, including attendance.
  • Identify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to effectively address those needs.
  • Demonstrate understanding of and support for Aspire Public Schools' mission, vision, values, policies, and ethical standards.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Exhibit knowledge of and commitment to Aspire Public Schools' mission and values, including a focus on antiracism.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

1. Competencies:
  • Understanding of child cognitive development and diverse learning styles.
  • Expertise in subject matter, including California State Standards and relevant frameworks.
  • Familiarity with assessment methodologies.
  • Willingness to implement Aspire's instructional guidelines and best practices.
  • Ability to analyze both qualitative and quantitative student data.
  • Commitment to self-reflection and improvement of instructional practices.
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and the community.
2. Minimum Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Single subject: Art authorization required; English learner authorization also required.
3. Experience:
  • At least one year of successful service in a certified teaching position.
4. Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, and pull. Ability to move, lift, and/or carry up to 30 pounds to shoulder height.
  • Repetitive use of hands for fine manipulation and grasping.
  • Normal depth perception and ability to sit, walk, or stand for extended periods.
  • Dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to see and read a computer screen and printed materials with or without vision aids.
  • Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone with or without auditory aids.
5. Work Authorization Requirements:
  • Clearance from the Department of Justice background screening.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Health (TB) clearance, renewed every four years.
