Job Title: Radiology Technologist

Detroit Medical Center is seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team in Detroit, Michigan.

Job Summary

As a Radiology Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic radiological exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment. You will verify patient identity and review patient's medical record for appropriateness of exam or procedure.

You will interview patients to obtain, verify or update medical history and assess risk factors such as medications, pregnancy and/or psychological indicators. You will explain procedures to patients, including side effects of pharmaceuticals administered, risks, benefits, alternatives and follow-up.

You will set up equipment and acquire appropriate images as per script. You will review images, make initial observations, document exceptions from established protocols and communicate data to radiologists.

You will recognize and respond to medical emergencies as appropriate. You will provide physician-prescribed post care instructions to patients.

You will participate in process improvement activities within radiology practice, including quality of care, patient flow, reject-repeat analysis and patient satisfaction. You will provide imaging education to residents, student technologists and new employees.

Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic radiological exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment
  • Verify patient identity and review patient's medical record for appropriateness of exam or procedure
  • Interview patients to obtain, verify or update medical history and assess risk factors
  • Explain procedures to patients, including side effects of pharmaceuticals administered, risks, benefits, alternatives and follow-up

Requirements
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography (R)
  • Required to have or successfully complete American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BLS) training by end of orientation period
  • Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities
  • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate and utilize all types of x-ray equipment and supplies in order to produce radiographs of acceptable diagnostic quality
