About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Aquaculture Scientist to join our team at Careers@Gov. As a key member of our aquaculture sector team, you will play a critical role in developing science-based approaches to understanding and managing Singapore's aquaculture site environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and manage projects that support the sustainable expansion and intensification of aquaculture, including environmental monitoring and management of fish farming sites.
- Undertake activities related to aquaculture environmental data collection and interpretation.
- Identify knowledge or technology gaps related to monitoring and management of the aquaculture site conditions and develop solutions to address the gaps, including the conduct of relevant R&D projects.
- Engage local and regional counterparts and specialists to address emerging issues related to the environmental sustainability of the aquaculture industry.
- Perform duties as required for the smooth implementation of the aquaculture environmental monitoring and management programmes.
Requirements:
- Strong scientific or research background in aquaculture-related fields such as marine and environmental sciences, aquaculture engineering, and digital technologies.
- Prior experience working in related fields will be an advantage.
- Proficient in computer software applications, good analytical skills, and familiar with statistical methods.
- Prepared to work on weekends and after office hours when necessary.
- Able to work in the office and field/offshore environments, including onboard sea-going vessels.
- Team player with good writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
