Position Overview:
The Pulmonary Care Specialist, under management's guidance, is responsible for delivering clinical direction and in-service training regarding patient care and other pulmonary-related matters within the facility.
Qualifications:
Education:
A valid CRT or RRT license and graduation from an AMA-accredited respiratory care program.
Licenses/Certification:
Current Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the state of employment.
Valid CPR certification.
Ventilator Certification preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of one year of experience in respiratory therapy, preferably in a long-term care environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide respiratory services as per established protocols.
- Conduct patient assessments to determine clinical needs.
- Maintain accurate records of respiratory care and patient interactions.
- Assist in regulatory compliance, ensuring proper storage and documentation of respiratory equipment.
- Communicate effectively with facility staff regarding clinical and operational matters.
- Assess patients' respiratory requirements and monitor oxygen saturation levels.
- Complete treatments and ventilator checks promptly.
- Participate in various special projects as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills with residents and their families, as well as all organizational levels.
- Ability to respond swiftly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
