Packaging Inspector

Hood Packaging Corporation is seeking a skilled Packaging Inspector to join our team at our Sibley, IA facility. As a Packaging Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of our products and maintaining our reputation for excellence in the packaging industry.

• Inspect paper bags for defects and quality issues
• Reclaim defective bags and replace with good bags to maintain accurate product counts
• Communicate with operators to prevent continued flaws and ensure quality standards are met
• Stack bags according to the proper stack pattern and maintain a clean work area
• Label pallets and record pallet counts for production documentation
• Complete work cards to accurately describe work performed

• Good basic math, reading, writing, and verbal communication skills
• Ability to stand/walk 90% of the time, up to four hours at a time
• Ability to lift/carry 5-15 lbs. 90% of the time and up to 35 lbs. occasionally
• Ability to handle repetitive tasks 80% of the time
• Good vision and hand/eye coordination
• Ability to read and write basic English
• Teamwork skills: work closely within the department and with other departments
• Cooperation and flexibility: be willing to work in other areas of the plant when the need arises

Accurate inspection and packing of the product assure that the customer receives the product in good condition and supports our quality philosophy. The customer's first impression of our product and of the company is of the incoming pallet. Neat, square pallets that are free of quality defects will result in a positive response to the Sibley plant.
