Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Compliance Specialist with expertise as a Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP). This mid-level role focuses on stormwater management and offers flexibility in location within the Bay Area. If you are eager to develop your career in a supportive environment and are passionate about environmental stewardship, this position may be ideal for you.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will assist in various environmental and stormwater compliance initiatives, ensuring adherence to regulations and preventing pollutants from impacting local waterways. Your duties will include:
- Conducting thorough stormwater inspections.
- Developing and executing Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) and site stabilization strategies.
- Performing stormwater sampling and desktop evaluations.
- Providing on-site training for construction teams.
- Preparing documentation and reports related to compliance.
Depending on your qualifications and experience, you will work under the guidance of senior staff on both routine and complex projects. Some travel, including overnight stays and occasional weekend work, may be required.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:
- A BS or BA degree in an environmental discipline, sciences, or engineering.
- A minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience in SWPPP, including sampling, analysis, and visual observations.
- Knowledge of water quality management practices, regulations, and laws.
- Familiarity with California State Water Board Permits.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ideal candidates may also have:
- Current QSP/QSD Certification or the ability to obtain it within six months of hire.
- Relevant certifications such as CESSWI, CPESC, CPSWQ, or QISP.
- Experience with the California Stormwater Multiple Application and Report Tracking System (SMARTS).
- Familiarity with the California Stormwater Construction General Permit and CASQA Construction Handbook.
- Knowledge of emerging environmental issues and best practices.
- Proficiency in Arc GIS Pro.
