Position Overview
Under the guidance of the RN Unit Manager or Director of Nursing, the Practical Nursing Specialist assumes responsibility for the care of assigned residents/patients during their shift. Nursing care is delivered through the coordination, implementation, and assessment of the residents/patients' care plans. The PNS adheres to established care standards, ensures a safe environment for residents/patients, and supervises the performance of nursing assistants. Compliance with all center policies and procedures is mandatory, along with adherence to the State Nurse Practice Act.
Required Qualifications
- Valid LPN License in the State
- Current CPR Certification
- Proficient in the use of medical supplies and equipment (e.g., feeding pumps, oxygen, treatment trays, medication carts)
- Adept at calculating medication dosages
- Meets all legal health requirements
- Ability to communicate positively and effectively with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and staff
- Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English; basic computer skills are essential with a willingness to learn company-specific applications
