Position Overview:
The Flight Test Manufacturing Engineer plays a crucial role within the Boeing Future of Flight team, focusing on the integration of production methodologies and tooling strategies. This position is essential for ensuring that our manufacturing processes align with the high standards required for flight testing.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will:
- Engage with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to deliver cohesive technical solutions across various engineering disciplines.
- Design and document manufacturing processes and tools tailored for flight test programs, establishing new practices and standards.
- Create and maintain comprehensive manufacturing plans, including Bills of Materials and work instructions, to accurately reflect the as-built configuration.
- Formulate manufacturing strategies that align with organizational objectives.
- Conduct build analyses and prepare cost estimation reports to support project planning.
- Oversee the integration of complex suppliers and processes to fulfill manufacturing and delivery requirements.
- Lead assessments of design concepts to ensure producibility and compliance with project specifications.
- Manage program work statements, ensuring alignment with budgetary and scheduling constraints.
- Coordinate with design engineers and fabrication teams to facilitate seamless project execution.
- Draft and refine processes and procedures to meet evolving business needs.
- Collaborate with Supplier Management to define flight test integration requirements.
- Develop training materials and tutorials for the Manufacturing Engineering team.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
- A degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a production or manufacturing setting.
- At least 3 years of experience in project leadership or team management.
- Extensive experience in a Manufacturing Engineering capacity.
Preferred Skills:
Ideal candidates will also have:
- Experience in laboratory or flight testing environments.
- Familiarity with both commercial and military aviation sectors.
- Background in Boeing BCA/BDS/BT&E Manufacturing Engineering.
- Knowledge of processes across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Experience with relevant systems such as PDM, CAPP, CMES, MESci, EPARTs, and GOLDesp.
