Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team at Atlantic Health System Hospital Corporation - 100 Madison Avenue. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging team, you will be responsible for performing high-quality mammography procedures, ensuring accurate and efficient patient care, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform mammographic procedures on inpatients and outpatients, adhering to department protocols and ensuring accurate and efficient patient care.
  • Review patient records, prescriptions, and history questionnaires to ensure all necessary information is available for radiologist interpretation.
  • Operate radiologic equipment with a high standard of accuracy in positioning and technical factors, practicing universal precautions and aseptic technique to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Process images using the PAC system, completing and verifying cases in a timely manner, and ensuring work lists are cleaned up daily.
  • Monitor and resolve exceptions lists daily, utilizing the Breast reporting system, EMR, and PACS systems effectively.
  • Analyze acquired images for proper positioning, markers, date stickers, and patient identification, repeating images as necessary to ensure diagnostic value.
  • Maintain a responsive and respectful relationship with patients, assessing and responding to their physical, sociological, and psychological needs.
  • Communicate effectively with coordinators, supervisors, point persons, and vendors, ensuring continuity and follow-through regarding equipment malfunctions.
  • Perform bone density scans accurately, understanding terminology and results, and assist with needle localizations and stereotactic biopsies as trained.
  • Practice the ALARA principle for radiation protection, accurately and effectively performing QA as per MQSA guidelines, and reporting problems to Clinical Engineering and supervisor.
  • Orient new employees and participate as a preceptor for procedures as requested, demonstrating a responsible attitude regarding attendance and tardiness.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in mammography or related field.
  • Able to perform screening and diagnostic mammography at a minimum.
  • Preferred skills and experience: ability to perform DEXA and biopsy procedures.
