Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Principal Scientist to join our Integrated Defense Solutions Business Unit as a 100% Remote or Charlottesville, VA-based employee. The successful candidate will be part of a team conducting forensic analysis on human DNA (hDNA) data and will possess substantial experience in DNA profile interpretation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform technical reviews of analytical data and reports
  • Write or contribute to technical reports, and/or papers for publication or presentation with clear results and concise, well-supported conclusions
  • Interact with Clients to provide updates and summary of testing results
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Forensic Science or related field and a minimum of 15 years of related experience; or appropriate combination of education and experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Computer skills and experience with MS Office, GeneMapper ID-X, STRmix, and/or ability to learn new software and systems
  • Experience processing and interpreting hDNA casework
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior industry experience with forensic DNA profiling tools including GeneMapper ID-X, STRmix model maker, interpretation of complex STR profiles, stutter thresholds, and calculator aids, CE instrumentation, and data
  • Prior experience managing complex and high-priority forensic casework
  • Prior experience validating new forensic instruments, protocols, and/or procedures
  • Prior experience testifying as an expert witness in a court of law
  • Professional certification (e.g., American Board of Criminalistics)
