Job Summary:

Under the supervision of a senior-level professional, the Juvenile Detention Counselor 3 provides social services to youth in a juvenile detention center. The Counselor will work with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized service plans, provide counseling and therapy, and facilitate group sessions. The Counselor will also be responsible for conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and providing case management services to youth and their families.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides counseling and therapy to youth and their families to address behavioral, emotional, and psychological issues.
  • Develops and implements individualized service plans to meet the unique needs of each youth.
  • Facilitates group sessions to promote social skills, emotional regulation, and behavioral change.
  • Conducts assessments to identify the needs and strengths of each youth and their family.
  • Develops treatment plans to address the identified needs and strengths of each youth and their family.
  • Provides case management services to youth and their families to ensure access to community resources and services.
  • Collaborates with other professionals to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to service delivery.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of youth and family interactions, including progress notes, treatment plans, and case management notes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as social work, psychology, or counseling.
  • Two years of experience working with youth and families in a social services setting.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including youth and families from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, youth, and families.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
