Job Summary

**American Fork City** is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our Fire and Rescue Division as a Firefighter/Paramedic (Full-Time). This is a critical role that requires a strong commitment to providing exceptional emergency medical services and fire suppression capabilities to our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fire Suppression and Emergency Medical Services: Respond to emergency calls, perform fire suppression duties, and provide critical care medical services to patients in need.
  • Technical Rescue and Emergency Response: Participate in technical rescue operations, including high-angle, water, and swift water rescues, as well as respond to emergency calls and provide medical aid as needed.
  • Fire Prevention and Inspection: Conduct fire prevention inspections, advise residents and business owners on necessary actions to conform to standards, and prepare reports related to inspection activities and suppression.
  • Maintenance and Equipment Operations: Perform general maintenance tasks, including upkeep of department buildings and equipment, and operate fire and medical apparatus to and at emergency scenes.
  • Paramedic Services: Provide field emergency medical care, perform highly qualified EMS assessments, and administer aid as per protocol.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • Experience: Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in emergency medical services as an Advanced EMT and/or firefighter, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certifications: Must possess a valid Utah Commercial Driver's License endorsement or certification of Emergency Vehicle Accident Prevention Program (EVAP/class E), and be Utah State firefighter certified, Level II, including Haz-Mat Awareness and Operations, NFPA 1001 standards.
Work Environment

This position regularly performs in a hazardous environment, subject to all seasonal weather extremes. Emergency response travel is expected in the normal course of performing duties. Many functions of the work pose a high degree of hazard uncertainty. Physical readiness and conditioning may be a condition of job retention.
