Job Title: Materials Process Engineer

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Materials Process Engineer to join our team in Palmdale, CA. As a Materials Process Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing, researching, and developing materials and their related application processes for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems, and subsystems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work in a high-paced team environment to support program goals and schedules
  • Develop solutions to difficult problems that are thorough, imaginative, practical, and consistent with program objectives
  • Apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to investigate material issues and provide solutions
  • Be responsible for new conceptual layouts, detailed engineering designs of structural composites, modifications, integration of advanced materials, and drawing reviews
  • Perform detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications, and manufacturing plans in a team environment with other engineering organizations
  • Evaluation of as-built products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications
  • Coordination and clear communication with other disciplines during the development of design solutions
  • Concise presentation and explanation of materials and process issues/solutions to internal management and customer representatives
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) with 2 years of relevant industry experience or 0 years' experience with a Master's STEM degree
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance is required
  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with pre-pregs, honeycombs, and adhesive materials; fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for composite structures
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active In Scope Secret or Top Secret clearance (last investigation within 5 years)
  • Experience working on Special Access Programs
  • Experience working on military aircraft
