Orthopedic Advanced Practice Provider Opportunity

UM Capital Region Health, a member of the University of Maryland Medical System, is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Practitioner to join its Critical Care team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art facility in Largo, MD, and be part of a multifaceted team that covers orthopedic patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive healthcare services to critically ill patients.
  • Collaborate with attending physicians to obtain medical histories, examine patients, complete rounds, place orders, and interpret tests.
  • Initiate appropriate evaluation and emergency management in emergency situations.
  • Administer therapeutic procedures such as joint reductions, splinting, and dressing changes.
  • Communicate effectively with attending physicians, other medical teams, and patients and their families.
  • Instruct and counsel patients and families.
  • May first assist in the operating room when necessary.
Requirements:
  • PAs: Bachelor's degree, graduation from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program, and certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician's Assistants are required. Candidate must hold an active Maryland license through the Maryland Board of Physicians.
  • NPs: Bachelor's degree, RN experience, and completion of Acute Nurse Practitioner degree. Candidate must hold an active Maryland license through the Maryland Board of Nursing.
  • One year of orthopedic experience is preferred.
  • Credentialing must be obtained from UM Capital Region Health's Medical Staff Office and maintenance of BLS/ACLS certification is required. ATLS certification preferred.
