Position Overview

AECOM is looking for a Structural Engineer/Designer to contribute to our projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in building design, particularly in commercial and institutional sectors. Proficiency in BIM and Revit for producing detailed drawings is essential. Additionally, the role involves utilizing 3D structural analysis software for design calculations and collaborating with CAD technicians to ensure compliance with building codes and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior engineers in analyzing and designing building structures under the guidance of the structural department manager.
  • Prepare calculations for structural components using various materials such as steel, concrete, masonry, and wood.
  • Employ structural engineering software to develop models for both public and private sector facilities.
  • Create structural drawings utilizing Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Engage in construction administration tasks, including reviewing shop drawings and preparing responses to RFIs.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with architects, planners, and other engineering professionals.
  • Maintain and organize project documentation.
  • Support field investigations of existing structures, gathering and analyzing data.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 2 years of experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.
  • Familiarity with Revit and AutoCAD is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Internship or relevant work experience in a design office setting.
  • Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license within two years.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification.
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, and TMS 402/602.
  • Proficiency in using software for structural analysis and design, such as RAM Elements, ETABS, and RISA.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Genuine interest in the built environment and a desire to expand engineering and architectural knowledge.
