Job Summary

The Nursing Assistant (NA) plays a vital role in providing resident-centered care and daily living assistance to assigned residents in a long-term care setting.

Responsibilities
  • Provides assistance with basic health care needs, including daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, and vital sign monitoring.
  • Assists residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct and appropriate transfer techniques and equipment.
  • Provides range of motion and passive exercises to residents.
  • Completes tasks related to food preparation and dining, creating a positive dining experience for residents.
  • Assists with meal and snack service, provides water and supplements as needed.
  • Documents resident interactions and outcomes related to resident care, behavior, activity, and dietary.
  • Communicates resident's changing condition and care-related concerns/responses to the charge nurse.
  • Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens and gathers vital signs.
  • Provides housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with keeping living areas clean and operational.
  • Participates in departmental/organization committees and task forces as needed.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
  • Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement.
  • CNA training and certification required and provided by facility.
  • Satisfactorily completes yearly department-specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year.
  • A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually.
  • Maintains all department-specific required certifications.
