We are currently seeking on-call Field Archaeologists for various survey and excavation assignments within our expanding teams. Our crews operate across multiple regions, working on projects for both private and public sector clients. Successful candidates will be based out of our office but will engage in projects throughout the region. Upcoming projects include excavation initiatives and survey assignments across multiple states.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting archaeological fieldwork under the guidance of a field supervisor, including surveys, testing, monitoring, and data recovery excavations.
- Documenting artifacts, features, and site components using GPS technology, mapping archaeological features, and maintaining detailed records.
- Processing and cataloging artifacts and materials under the supervision of laboratory staff.
- Assisting with preliminary analysis and laboratory tasks as directed.
- Managing filing and scanning of records and documentation.
- Completing record searches and report tables under the supervision of senior personnel.
Qualifications:
- An Associate degree or higher in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related discipline. Relevant field experience or completion of an archaeological field school may substitute for educational qualifications.
- Prior experience in archaeology is preferred.
- Capability to perform fieldwork for extended hours in diverse environments, including challenging terrains and varying weather conditions.
- Ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 60 pounds.
- Willingness to kneel and bend for prolonged periods.
- Flexibility to travel for work assignments, often on short notice and for extended durations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a cohesive team.
- Capacity to thrive in a dynamic and creative work environment.
