Job Description

Purvis Industries, a leading distributor of industrial products, seeks a sales-focused product and application expert to lead our heavy gearing reducer sales effort. We have in-house engineering, service, and contractor resources that give our team the capabilities to take care of the customer with a single call.

The Heavy Gearing Reducer Application Sales Engineer will work with our field sales personnel to grow our sales in large gearing and reducers for new and existing customers. They will accomplish this through direct sales calls throughout the assigned Purvis geographical area and via electronic means (Teams, phone, video chat).

The day-to-day work involves meeting with customers and/or team members, providing technical advice and assistance on product selection and sizing, creating proposals or assisting in proposals with suppliers and team members, providing training to customers and team members, and assisting with product-specific marketing such as eCommerce.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly participate in sales efforts to close orders
  • Coordinate heavy gearing reducer systems with various Branches and Regional Managers
  • Identify target accounts and prospects
  • Work with the marketing team to produce marketing materials and events promoting unit and package handling.
  • Provide marketing suggestions for social media posts and other digital content
  • Utilize AutoCAD, Solidworks, and manufacturer-provided software
  • Provide advanced-level technical application support via phone, video conference, or in person
  • Stay current on new products and technologies and educate Customers and Purvis Team Members about these new developments
  • Determine final disposition of warranty claims and work with suppliers to resolve difficult cases
  • Produce and present technical training for Customers and Purvis Team Members about heavy gearing reducers.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of heavy gearing reducers, engineering principles, and creative problem-solving
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • Proficiencies: Microsoft Office, Teams
  • Good driving record

Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits.
