Job SummaryThe Radiation Oncology Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients with cancer, including evaluating inpatient and outpatient consultations, taking histories, conducting physical exams, and documenting findings and actions as indicated. You will also assist with the planning of patients' treatments, perform site-specific patient teaching, and prepare patients for simulation.
Responsibilities- Evaluate inpatient and outpatient consultations, taking histories and conducting physical exams
- Document findings and actions as indicated
- Assist with the planning of patients' treatments
- Perform site-specific patient teaching
- Prepare patients for simulation
- Medicate patients as needed per protocol
- Order medications for symptom relief per protocol
- Assist in managing patients in follow-up
- Quality of life issues not limited to skin/wound care, acute and long-term toxicity management, and psycho-social issues
- Master's degree in nursing required
- Completion of an accredited educational program for nurse practitioners required
- Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with authorization by the Board of Registration in Nursing to practice in an expanded role
- Registered with the ANCC or other accrediting organization for Nurse Practitioners
- Registered with the State of Massachusetts and DEA for prescription writing privileges
- Current BLS and ACLS Certifications
- Minimum of three years of current clinical nursing experience and two years experience in adult practice required
- Prior experience in related clinical practice preferred
