Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to contribute to our St. Charles Manufacturing Location. The ideal candidate will be strategic, collaborative, and detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to managing complex tasks. This role requires the ability to work effectively with peers and management while demonstrating sound judgment and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Controller in meeting deliverables and deadlines.
- Support the annual standard cost process.
- Calculate and report cycle count metrics and perform related reconciliations.
- Ensure timely completion of monthly reports with zero defects.
- Review transactions to confirm proper impact on perpetual and general ledger records.
- Analyze variances to identify underlying causes.
- Proactively seek improvements in processes and accuracy to enhance efficiency.
- Monitor inventory transaction processes and identify areas for improvement.
- Exhibit curiosity about workflows and their impact on various operations.
- Demonstrate initiative and a solution-oriented mindset.
- Report on variances from standard costs, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
- Manage the monthly accounting close process, including balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries.
- Support compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley regulations and related audits.
- Assist in reviewing excess and obsolete inventory.
- Support the site payables process.
- Handle additional ad hoc requests, analyses, and projects as needed.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; advanced degree or professional certification (CMA, CFA, CPA) preferred.
- Experience with SAP is advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills are essential.
- 1 to 2+ years of experience in Manufacturing Finance with direct costing accounting experience.
- Knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance.
- Proficient in PC applications (Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Experience with Hyperion Consolidation tools is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and remote environment.
- Proven capability to manage multiple critical projects in a fast-paced setting.
- Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels.
Travel & Work Arrangements
This position is fully site-based.
