Job Summary

This position requires the ability to drive a delivery truck to customer locations throughout Southern California. May load and unload delivery vehicle as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Greet customers with respect and courtesy.
  • Product Knowledge: Keep up to date with the product inventory and its functionality.
  • Order Taking: Ask questions and provide relevant information to the customers that they might need and then list down the orders which the customers might purchase, thereby providing them excellent customer service.
  • Vehicle Inspection: Inspect vehicle to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order, including the completion of pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Load Security: Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting goods including the inspection of loads to ensure that cargo is secure.
  • Cargo Handling: Secure cargo for transport, using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers.
  • Route Planning: Read and interpret maps to determine vehicle routes.
  • Loading and Unloading: Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
  • Reporting: Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicle.
  • Delivery Confirmation: Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
  • Documentation: Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Instructions: Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate equipment, such as truck cab computer, cellular phones, driver cameras, GPS equipment to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisor or other drivers.
  • Loading and Unloading Assistance: Load or unload trucks or help other with loading or unloading, using loading-related equipment or other equipment as necessary.
  • Company Policies: Maintain proficiency in all organizational safe working policies and practices.
  • Additional Duties: Performs other driver-related duties as assigned.
  • Adherence to Company Policies: Adheres to company policies and work requirements.
Requirements
  • Communication Skills: The ability to read, write, understand, and relay, written and verbal instructions.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to operate available equipment, such as calculators, or scanners.
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic mathematical skills, as needed to make change and give refunds.
  • Product Knowledge: Knowledgeable about company's products and services, and customer-related policies.
Education and Experience
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Training: Successful completion of on-the-job training.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical Condition: Must be in adequate physical condition to perform requirements such as mental, physical and manual dexterity, hand/grip strength, depth perception and any other physical attributes that enable the employee to perform the job safely according to all Company, Local, State, and Federal regulations and requirements.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift/carry up to 75 pounds regularly.
  • Pushing and Pulling: Ability to push/pull up to 75 pounds regularly.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Must wear prescribed personal protective equipment when handling material or operating equipment.
Other Requirements
  • Background Check: Successfully pass a background and motor vehicle check.
  • Commercial Driver's License: Must maintain a valid commercial driver's license and driving record that meets the organization safe driving standards.
