The substitute school nurse provides health services to students, working with building administration and staff to modify or remove health-related barriers that affect academic and social emotional development.
Responsibilities include providing preventative health services, such as case finding, health education, referrals, and basic care, to prevent serious health problems and manage current conditions.
Qualifications- Valid and current Illinois Registered Nursing License or Professional Educator License with School Nurse endorsement;
- Associates Degree in Nursing required;
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree preferred;
- Certified in first aid, CPR, and AED equipment administration;
- Knowledge of professional nursing principles and school health practices;
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form;
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, and MS Outlook;
- Courteous and respectful when interacting with others;
- Valid State of Illinois driver's license;
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
Pre-Kindergarten to Grade Five Buildings: 8:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Middle School Buildings: 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
Salary$30 per hour.
