Responsibilities:

  • Assist Physical Therapists with patient testing, evaluations, and complex procedures.
  • Develop and implement a program of corrective exercise and treatment for assigned patients.
  • Instruct patients on proper use of wheelchairs, crutches, canes, braces, and prosthetic appliances and devices.
  • Prepare treatment areas, patients, and equipment for treatment.
  • Monitor patient progress and treatment, and advise Physical Therapists of any changes in progress.
  • Direct physical therapy technicians and coordinate with other service areas to ensure proper patient care.
  • Prepare written documentation as required by the profession and the department.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree required.
  • Licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the State of Texas.
  • BLS Certification.
  • Two years of experience preferred as a Physical Therapist Assistant, but new graduates considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

Work Environment:

This is a full-time position working primarily indoors with occasional exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, and noise levels. The employee will be required to stand for prolonged periods, lift patients and supplies, and use various equipment and tools.
