Metro Transit stands as one of the largest transit systems in the nation, employing over 3,000 individuals and facilitating more than 80 million rides annually through a comprehensive network of buses, light rail, and commuter trains, along with resources for carpooling, vanpooling, walking, or biking in the Twin Cities.
Role Contribution:
The Lead Project Coordinator will spearhead and oversee significant customer information initiatives for Metro Transit. This includes the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of projects. The Lead Project Coordinator will formulate project timelines and budgets, acting as a key management resource within customer information project domains. Additionally, this role involves coordinating efforts among internal and external stakeholders, consultants, and vendors to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
- Manage and develop a portfolio of customer information initiatives.
- Assist in the formulation of the annual work plan for Transit Information.
- Effectively communicate project objectives, timelines, deliverables, and status updates to a wide audience at Metro Transit, the Metropolitan Council, stakeholders, and customers.
- Collaborate with fellow Project Managers and internal stakeholders across all divisions of Metro Transit and the Metropolitan Council.
- Enhance project management expertise within Transit Information and across Metro Transit.
- Create standardized project management templates and documentation to ensure adherence to best practices in project management.
Minimum qualifications include any of the following combinations of progressively responsible experience in project or contract management, along with completed education in Urban or Transportation Planning, Business Administration, or a related field:
- High school diploma/GED with eight (8) years of relevant experience.
- Associate degree with six (6) years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree or higher with four (4) years of relevant experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent certifications; completion of relevant Project Management training.
- Experience utilizing public transportation and transit information tools.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize, execute, and delegate project tasks effectively.
- Experience in mentoring and training on project management methodologies and principles.
- Proven adaptability to changing priorities.
- Experience in fostering an equitable, positive, and respectful work environment that values cultural diversity.
- Understanding of project management principles.
- Detail-oriented skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to persuade and influence internal and external business partners.
- Negotiation skills to secure buy-in from stakeholders.
- Facilitation and collaborative decision-making skills.
- Effective communication skills tailored to diverse stakeholders.
- Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
