Histotechnician Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Histotechnician to join our team at Allied Digestive Health. As a Histotechnician, you will play a critical role in processing specimens and preparing slides for microscopic evaluation.

• Process specimens with minimal supervision, performing routine procedures such as accessioning, grossing, embedding, cutting, staining, cover slipping, labeling, and distribution.
• Perform routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of slides for microscopic evaluation, including preparing and maintaining working solutions for routine H&E staining on automatic strainers and special staining.
• Complete all routine and special requests for additional levels, recuts, special stains, and immunohistochemistry.
• Perform necessary maintenance of all laboratory instrumentation, including changing instrument reagents used to process, stain, and coverslip tissue, and ensure QA documentation is completed daily.
• Ensure day-to-day assigned tasks are consistently and accurately completed, and perform QC of specimens.
• Comply with all Lab Standard Operating Protocols, as well as local, federal, CLIA, CLEP, and CAP regulations.
• Handle and dispose of chemical waste based on the laboratory's process, and prepare, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problem or immediately notify the manager.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and manage multiple activities and deadlines.
• Self-starter and self-directed, with strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience on the bench doing the basics in histotechnology, such as fixation, processing, embedding, cutting, staining, cover slipping, and simple special stains, preferred.
• Clinical Laboratory Technician or Histology certification required.

This job operates in a professional laboratory environment, and the role routinely uses standard pathology laboratory equipment.
