The PCU unit is a 22-bed universal unit, caring for patients with a wide range of medical conditions, including cardiac, orthopedics, respiratory diseases, and more. As a Travel Nurse RN, you will work closely with patients, families, and healthcare teams to provide individualized care and support.

Job Duration: 13 weeks

This is a 13-week contract opportunity, with a guaranteed minimum of 36 hours per week. You will work a 4x12-hour night shift schedule, with every other weekend rotation.

Shift: 4x12-Hour Night (18:30 - 07:00)

As a Travel Nurse RN, you will work a 4x12-hour night shift schedule, with a 30-minute break in between each shift. You will be required to wear navy scrubs and meet COVID-19 and Flu vaccine requirements.

Guaranteed Hours: Not specified

While we guarantee a minimum of 36 hours per week, the actual number of hours worked may vary based on unit needs and staffing ratios.

Experience: Minimum 1 year of acute care experience

To be eligible for this position, you must have a minimum of 1 year of acute care experience, with a focus on PCU or ICU settings.

License: Valid state license required

You must hold a valid state license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state where the facility is located.

Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH required; PALS preferred

You must hold current certifications in ACLS, BCLS, and NIH, with PALS certification preferred.

Must-Have: Epic charting experience; Telemetry required; Vents and Conscious Sedation preferred

To be successful in this role, you must have experience with Epic charting, telemetry, and vents. Conscious Sedation experience is preferred.

Job Description:
  1. Must be willing to float within service lines and to affiliate hospitals as needed.
  2. Night shift role caring for a diverse patient age group, including infants to geriatrics.
  3. Work on a 22-bed universal unit, caring for patients whose needs may change from ICU to Med/Surg while remaining in the same room.
  4. Staffing ratios: 1:5 for Med/Surg patients, 1:4 for progressive patients, and 1:2 for ICU patients.
  5. Patient diagnoses include cardiac, orthopedics, respiratory diseases, general surgery, hospice, neurology, ENT, urology, and diabetes.
  6. Participate in inpatient dialysis sessions for chronic patients.
  7. Provide care in a unit with Primary Stroke Certification, experienced in TPA/TNK administration.
  8. Use of Pyxis for medication management and Epic system for charting.
  9. Telehealth services utilized for various specialty services.
  10. Must complete a basic Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam; two attempts allowed.
  11. Wear navy scrubs.
  12. Must meet COVID-19 and Flu vaccine requirements; medical or religious exemptions are acceptable.
  13. Orientation includes four non-billable hours on the first day.
  14. Weekend rotation required; every other weekend but may require two weekends in a row based on the unit's needs.
