We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Squash Coach to join our team at Middlebury College. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to the head coach in all aspects of the men's and women's squash programs.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in squash coaching and a passion for mentoring student-athletes. They will be responsible for coaching the technical and tactical aspects of squash, recruiting prospective student-athletes, and assisting with the administration of the program.
The successful candidate will be a team player who is able to work effectively with a diverse group of students, coaches, and staff. They will be responsible for mentoring and supporting student-athletes in their academic and personal development, as well as providing guidance on issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coach the technical and tactical aspects of squash in practices and competitions.
- Recruit prospective student-athletes within the rules and regulations of Middlebury, NESCAC, and the NCAA.
- Assist the head coach in preparing for daily practice, including developing daily practice plans.
- Assist the head coach with the administration of the program, including travel plans, equipment purchasing, and budgeting.
- Mentor and support student-athletes in their academic and personal development.
- Assist the head coach in developing and delivering programming related to student-athlete development, including mental health, diversity, equity, and inclusion, leadership, and sexual violence prevention.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach or Director of Athletics in support of the program or department.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
- Experience playing and coaching at the collegiate level preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of constituents through strong interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
- Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Excellent organizational skills, computer skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively within a diverse department and team as well as independently.
- Must maintain appropriate certifications in CPR/AED/First Aid and complete the annual NCAA Division III Rules Test.
- Must hold and maintain a valid driver's license and, if requested, a college vehicle license.
