The Watercraft Inspector position plays a crucial role in protecting Minnesota's waters from ecologically harmful aquatic invasive species. Inspectors will undergo training on MN DNR protocols and be authorized to enforce MN State Aquatic Invasive Species laws while conducting thorough inspections on incoming and outgoing watercraft at multiple lakes in the Prior Lake Spring Lake Watershed District.
Key Responsibilities- Educate the public on the AIS program and current issues.
- Distribute literature and pamphlets to raise awareness.
- Inspect watercraft for invasive species, both inbound and outbound.
- Conduct verbal surveys to gather information.
- Document inspection activities and maintain knowledge of best practices.
- Excellent verbal communication and customer relations skills.
- Ability to multitask and coordinate activities in a professional manner.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays.
- Occasional lifting and walking/standing required.
