L3Harris Technologies is on the lookout for a dynamic RF hardware engineering leader to guide a technical team in the design and production of Tracking, Telemetry, and Command systems tailored for airborne and space-based applications.
In the role of RF Product Lead, you will spearhead a team dedicated to crafting innovative solutions that align with customer requirements, leveraging both existing designs and new advancements in satellite communication links, digital telemetry, and signal processing technologies.
Your responsibilities will also encompass the design, integration, and testing of new assemblies for both current and upcoming projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Business Development, Engineering, and Management to devise systems that fulfill customer expectations based on both legacy and innovative designs.
Oversee all facets of RF/microwave product development, which includes system and module level design, schematic capture, circuit design, derating, and Worst-Case Analysis (WCA). Present engineering design concepts and data outcomes for internal reviews. Facilitate design verification testing of engineering units and supervise production processes.
Work closely with an Engineering Manager to enhance employee engagement and retention, ensure adherence to company policies and regulations, promote talent development, establish and monitor goals, conduct performance reviews, allocate projects, and report on team performance and progress.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required, with a minimum of 9 years of industry experience, OR a Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with at least 7 years of industry experience. Alternatively, a minimum of 13 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
At least 7 years of experience in the production of RF/Microwave hardware is essential.
Minimum 7 years of experience in designing RF/Microwave circuits at the circuit card or module level, including schematic capture, BOM generation, and layout supervision. Familiarity with RF transceiver architecture trade-offs is required.
Experience in proposal efforts and new product development is preferred. The ability to troubleshoot RF/microwave subassemblies down to the component level is essential.
Experience in developing test procedures and conducting design verification testing is also necessary.
Preferred Skills:
Understanding of digital design fundamentals, including modem architectures, power supplies, and interfacing with ADCs and FPGAs.
Working knowledge of digital modulation techniques such as BPSK, QPSK, and associated distortion metrics like EVM. Experience in RF system analysis using tools like ADS System Vue, AWR VSS, or similar is advantageous.
Capability to perform linear and non-linear analysis of RF/microwave circuits using Keysight ADS or similar tools is preferred.
Familiarity with transmitter and receiver architecture design:
Transmitter design:
Gain distribution, linearity, modulation formats, synthesizer architecture, and EVM performance.
Receiver front end design:
Noise figure, dynamic range, acquisition and tracking threshold, and BER performance.
Experience with 3D Electromagnetic analysis using HFSS or similar tools is beneficial.
Familiarity with DVB-S2 waveform is a plus.
Experience with military or space-qualified hardware designs is desirable. Design experience with K band frequencies is a plus but not mandatory.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $122,000 to $227,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amounts may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
