About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mold Setter to join our team at IPEX Group of Companies. As a Mold Setter, you will be responsible for changing over molds, tooling, and performing preventative maintenance and minor repairs in our Automated Injection Molding plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Shut down and start up injection molding machines prior to and after the changeover takes place to ensure that parts will be correct dimensionally with no tooling / engraving related issues.
  • Determine the correct tooling necessary to run the requested item that is scheduled to be installed.
  • Work with production and machine shop personnel to diagnose tooling related, machine related, material related, or process related concerns.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices with accuracy.
  • Safely operate forklift, overhead crane, bench grinder, drill press, hand grinder, cut off saw, belt sander, vice, pneumatic and hand tools.
  • Distinguish between various bolts, thread sizes, water fittings, and hydraulic fittings with limited supervision.
  • Fill out pre-start forms and paperwork on equipment and daily changes.
  • Keep up with housekeeping and tooling / spare parts organization.
  • Assist in maintaining conveyors and other shop equipment.
  • Proper and accurate procedures, safety, mechanical, and electrical aspects of injection molds and their connection to the machines (i.e. core switches)
  • Tear down and re-assemble injection molds for preventative maintenance functions.
  • Water and pressure test mold cooling circuits to ensure no leak is coming from and find / fix leaks if needed it sometimes with consultation of machine shop for worn or damaged O-ring grooves / sealing plates.
  • Follow Lockout and Tagout procedures as per ISMS 19.0.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum 18 years of age plus completion of high school education or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write and do basic math.
  • Minimum of Two-year technical degree and/or 2 to 3 years equivalent experience.
  • Successful candidate must complete a background check and drug screening.
Working Conditions
  • Requires a high degree of mobility and involves considerable routine walking, standing for long periods, reaching, twisting, bending, climbing, and lifting to 50-75 lbs.
  • Fast-paced environment where a considerable amount of sensory attention is required.
  • Personal safety is affected by exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise levels and the use of sharp tools.
