Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our team at Dürr Systems Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating and managing concepts, mechanical sketches, and drawings required to effectively fabricate, install, and/or commission various types of paint finishing equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize a computer-aided design (CAD) system to create drawings - 2D, 3D
  • Interpret schematics to develop complete system designs
  • Travel to local customer sites and participate in field measurements
  • Maintain project schedules
  • Effectively communicate and interact with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers, and customers
  • Control and document the distribution and archiving of drawings and documents
  • Understand, diagnose, and solve real or potential design problems
  • Attend and contribute to design review meetings
  • Interpret mechanical drawings
  • Travel approximately 25%

Requirements:

  • Associate Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred
  • 5 or more years of experience
  • Familiar with mechanical layout, detail drawings, and basic piping preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Ability to perform basic engineering calculations
  • Strong skills in math and geometry
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD 2D, 3D, ReCap, Revit, Navisworks, Micostation a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to understand and maintain project schedules
  • Good time management skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Good communication skills with co-workers, suppliers, and customers
  • Able to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to technically define problems and propose solutions
  • Adaptable to change in a learning environment
  • Self-starter capable of executing assigned tasks and solving problems in a diplomatic and professional manner
  • Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary

  • While performing duties of job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and use hands and arms
  • Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision
