Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Paper Converter to join our team. As a key member of our production staff, you will be responsible for operating a fanfold machine or rewinding machine to convert large mill rolls of paper into fanfold paper or rewind paper into rolls.

  • Operate a fanfold machine or rewinding machine to ensure product is cut to proper length and width.
  • Load rolls of paper on machine back stands and thread paper between feed rollers to wind smaller rolls of 2-ply or 3-ply of paper.
  • Observe the flow of material through the machine to detect irregular cutting and winding that may cause out-of-spec conditions.
  • Guide the fanfold bundle into an off-load conveyor once the bundle is finished.
  • Adjust machine settings such as air pressures for brakes, tension, and web control, adjust speed controls, and alignment settings for paper.
  • Remove product from the conveyor and place it on a pallet in an upright or horizontal position according to the skid loading diagram.
  • Apply splice tape to the bundle and may apply splice tape to rolls.
  • Check finished product to ensure it meets product specifications and rework as required.
  • Verify that the product is correct to schedule and set up.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED), or three to six months related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience running industrial machinery.
  • The ability to make necessary machine adjustments when out-of-tolerance.
  • The ability to learn and run multiple machines with a high level of efficiency.
  • Basic machine knowledge.
  • Lift truck experience is helpful.
  • The ability to move or lift 20 to 135 pounds.
  • The ability to stand for 8 hours.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • A good attendance record.
  • Basic math skills.
