POSITION SUMMARY
Under the guidance of the designated Sous Chef, the Culinary Specialist III is responsible for preparing various food and menu items for guests, strictly adhering to approved recipes, cooking techniques, and ingredients as outlined by the Food & Beverage/Culinary Management team. This role involves maintaining all food items, equipment, and kitchen areas in compliance with health regulations and standards. A positive, team-oriented attitude towards guests, fellow staff members, and management is essential at all times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of fundamental food products (including meat, poultry, fish, produce, and dry goods) and standard kitchen equipment. Exhibit proficient knife skills and the ability to effectively multitask within basic cooking methods to ensure seamless service.
- Understand and implement the food rotation method known as 'FIFO.' Responsible for labeling and dating all food items at their designated station and throughout the kitchen, ensuring all items are within their expiration dates, with proper disposal and logging of expired items.
- Ability to accurately read food order tickets, identify menu items, and manage substitution or special requests in a timely manner, effectively communicating these requests to team members.
- Maintain a reliable attendance record, arriving at the workstation on time, in appropriate uniform, and prepared to work.
- Report any injuries, accidents, or potential safety hazards or health code violations to management immediately upon identification.
- Perform any additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned by Culinary Management, aligned with the needs of the department.
- Possess the physical strength to frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 10 pounds at or below waist level, and occasionally lift, move, or carry objects over 50 pounds.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A High School Diploma or GED is required; vocational or technical certification is preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Maintain a clean and professional appearance in accordance with company policy.
