Key Responsibilities

  • **Trash and Recycling**: Gather and empty trash, and ensure proper recycling procedures are followed.
  • **Restroom Services**: Service, clean, and supply restrooms, including restocking toilet paper, soap, and paper towels.
  • **Furniture and Fixtures**: Clean and polish furniture and fixtures, including desks, chairs, and other equipment.
  • **Windows and Glass**: Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners.
  • **Dusting and Polishing**: Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment, and polish floors and surfaces.
  • **Specialized Cleaning**: Steam-clean or shampoo carpets, and strip, seal, and finish floors.
  • **Graffiti Removal**: Remove graffiti from surfaces, using specialized equipment and techniques.
  • **Safety and Security**: Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • **Communication**: Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems, and requisition supplies and equipment as needed.
Requirements
  • **Education**: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • **Experience**: Minimum 2 years of janitorial/cleaning/related work experience.
  • **Skills**: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs., work schedule flexibility, and ability to follow direction and work with minimal supervision.
  • **Certifications**: First aid certification and ability to meet all physical requirements of the job.
Working Conditions

The Janitorial Specialist will work in a professional office/work and laboratory atmosphere, and will be required to lift, carry, walk, sit, push, and pull. The employee will be exposed to various types of cleaning machinery and must be able to meet all physical requirements of the job.

The successful candidate will be required to pass a drug screen and background check, and must be a US citizen unless otherwise pre-approved by the Contracting Officer.
